This is a business plan i've been pondering on for long now...and though most ppl don't like to share their b-plans am more of the linux mindset of person...dicuss and develop...especially since i believe that the only kind of competitive edge that one has these days...is their level of innovation and that's something hidden deep inside the person...quite hard to steal :P
Ok back to the plan...You would've seen ads of Shaadi.com and the whole bakset of ppl in that domain...then there are the orkuts and the facebooks. the main problem with these is...everything is so bloody virtual...
The only value add these things do is be a forum for ppl to meet online...thats not much of value add if u ask me....its still very very difficult to take these friendships into real life...you're never really sure who you are talking too...and though there are some very commonsensical checks most people seem oblivious to them.
So here' my great big idea :P ...have a social networking site but make the networking part a part of real life by organizing fun events...
I would recommend ppl read this short story: stranger in the city
and this post on arranged marriage by serene gurl
to get a better perspective...
and ofcourse if you want more details on the complete plan...u know where to ping me

Well, um not into these social-networking sites... I mean um not exactly a introvert , but I dont lik socializing online...it seems too fake.Although Blogging is totally diffrnt,
Ur idea seems lotta fun!
If you look at it, the online world is just numbers and text and emoticons and pictures. And there are people behind those. It's tough to imagine the person behind the id or his/her net presence.
Many even choose to stay anonymous and hide their true identities. Thus I'm not sure how well this idea of yours will work. Are people from different areas of even a city willing to meet and join?
And many people hold apprehensions against meeting online friends.
But well, the post does remind me how "virtual" this online world is. :)
I agree with Alok. Its so hard to find GENUINITY on the net.
Neat idea tho.
Keshi.
u n ur bijness plaaanjzzz!!
whole da best!;)
@Debasish...yeah well i'm ok with the site part...i'm not ok with it being limited to just the site...that makes life so virtual...
@Alok...Most of those questions are answered in the detailed plan...runs into a few pages so didnt post all of it here...but the plan caters for close proximity, small time window events...and there are ideas to bridge the gap between online and offline world
@Keshi...and thats exactly why we require to have offline events...where you can feel secure
@Gunj...hmm thank you... :P
